Ring-Jug, Moravian style

Handcrafted sculptural stoneware bottle

$140.00

Make a striking artistic statement with this unique ring-flask—historically known as an "arm-jug" or "ring-jug." Meticulously handcrafted from high-fired grey stoneware, each piece is adorned with dynamic porcelain brushstrokes and splatters under a glossy clear glaze. Complete with a natural cork stopper, this versatile vessel serves as a functional liquid container, an eye-catching centerpiece, or a standalone sculptural art piece.

Historical Heritage The dimensions and traditional crafting techniques for this piece are directly inspired by documented historical works created by Moravian potters in Salem, North Carolina, between 1740 and 1840. Arriving as part of the third wave of German immigrants before the Revolutionary War, the Moravians established communities in Pennsylvania before moving south to North Carolina. As pioneer artisans, Moravian potters supplied essential utilitarian and decorative pottery to Mid-Atlantic communities, early Tennessee settlers, and pioneers heading west.

Authenticity & Expectation

  • The Hand of the Potter: Please note that due to the handcrafted nature of our work using traditional techniques, minor differences in glaze, texture, and shape are not defects—they are the "fingerprints" of the craft. We believe these characteristics contribute to each piece being a part of the American narrative.

  • Creative Capturing: The physical item has been photographed as a digital image, and the original background of the image has been enhanced with an AI creative studio. Given the digital modifications and studio lighting, please be aware of subtle color differences.
